Diane Melisaris, MA, BSN, RN, CDE
Diane Melisaris is a Registered Nurse, Certified Diabetes Educator and Certified Lifestyle Coach. She has many years of experience in behavioral health and health promotion. She graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing and holds a Masters Degree in Communication with an emphasis on social science research and methodology. She has worked in both fields for 15 years. As a Certified Diabetes Educator since 2015, she has worked as a health coach in government, community and corporate settings.
Some highlights in her work experience include adolescent and adult group education and one-to-one coaching on managing chronic conditions and reducing risks associated with a chronic conditions especially prediabetes and diabetes. She has also taught stress management, assertiveness training and smoking cessation.
Diane enjoys exercising especially swimming, loves to read and travel and enjoys cooking and finding ways to turn unhealthy recipes into healthy ones.
Jane Ujoatu, DrPH, MS, RDN, LD
Dr. Jane Ujoatu earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Human Foods and Nutrition from the University of Houston-Main Campus, in Houston, Texas. She earned a Masters of Science degree in Nutrition Science from Texas Woman’s University- Houston center, Houston, and a Doctor of Public Health degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center, Fort Worth, Texas. She also holds a Certificate of Training in Weight Management from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Dr. Jane has over 9 years of experience in providing nutrition services to individuals and groups in various settings. She has over 5 years of experience in community-based program development, implementation, and evaluation, and community-based research. She also has over 4 years of providing nutrition counseling to groups and individuals both in corporate and community-based settings. Most recently, Dr. Jane is involved in providing nutrition counselling and care to End Stage Renal Disease patients as well as serving as a nutrition instructor for undergraduate students.
Dr. Jane has a passion for improving population health through healthy nutrition by addressing health disparities especially in low-income communities in order to make our communities better. She is also committed to community engagement, volunteering, mentorship for dietetics students and young professionals, as well as in leadership development.
